Get Started With Delta
Delta is a highly selective, limited-capacity initiative designed to support BC’s most ambitious scale up companies. If you’re leading a strategic shift and see a clear opportunity to accelerate growth through targeted co-investment, we want to hear from you.
Even if you’re not certain Delta is the right fit, we encourage you to apply. Every submission is reviewed by our team, and we’ll work with you to assess your goals, offer insight, and connect you with the most aligned resources — whether that’s Delta or another program within the ecosystem.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Delta a grant, loan, or equity investment?
Delta is a non-dilutive co-investment. That means no equity is taken, and nothing needs to be repaid. We fund 30% of your project costs, and you cover the rest. This model is designed to accelerate execution without adding debt or complexity to your cap table.
What kinds of projects are eligible for funding?
Delta funds well-defined, high-impact initiatives tied to strategic growth goals, like market expansion, operational upgrades, leadership hiring, or product commercialization.
Projects should be:
- Aligned with a clear business outcome
- Scoped and time-bound
- Tied to measurable impact over 12–36 months
- Eligible costs typically include:
- External expertise (consultants, agencies, fractional execs)
- Short-term staffing (contract-based roles supporting the initiative)
Projects can be phased or split into multiple components if they form a cohesive execution plan. Delta is not intended for ongoing operations, open-ended R&D, or loosely defined strategy development.
What makes for a strong application?
A compelling Delta application typically includes:
- A clearly defined, mission-critical project
- A compelling rationale for why now
- A realistic budget (up to $150,000 total, with 30% Delta support)
- Evidence of readiness (internal leadership capacity, plus identified external support if possible)
- Measurable goals tied to long-term business growth
We’re not evaluating polish. We’re evaluating clarity, urgency, and focus.
What if I already have external experts or consultants lined up?
That’s ideal. Delta is designed to support what you already know needs to happen, not redirect it. If you’ve identified trusted contractors, consultants, or fractional leaders, you’re encouraged to include them.
Pre-identified vendors are preferred, but not mandatory. If needed, Northern Innovation Network can help you source vetted experts aligned with your scope.
What if I need to fund multiple projects, or phase work over time?
You can absolutely structure your Delta request across multiple related projects or in phases, as long as each component is clearly scoped and tied to an overarching growth strategy.
The emphasis is on executional clarity and strategic relevance, not quantity or timeline length.
How quickly can I access funds once approved?
The typical turnaround is 2–4 weeks post-approval, depending on how quickly your scope is finalized, vendors are confirmed, and agreements are signed.
The more ready you are with vendors and scope, the faster execution can begin.
Are there opportunities to connect with other CEOs through Delta?
Yes. As a Delta participant, you’ll be invited to join curated peer roundtables, leadership experiences, and NIN-hosted community events. These are designed to help you connect with other scaling founders navigating similar challenges.
What kind of reporting or accountability is expected?
Delta is built for execution-first founders, not for creating paperwork.
We’ll align on budget, deliverables, and a few light touchpoints tied to project progress. We keep accountability focused, transparent, and founder-friendly — no pitch-backs or dense reporting.
Will my application and company information be kept confidential?
Yes. Your strategic plans, financials, and vendor relationships are kept strictly confidential. All members of the Northern Innovation Network team, as well as our Executives-in-Residence and advisors, are bound by confidentiality agreements.
Can I reapply or return to Delta later if I’m not quite ready now?
Yes. If your project isn’t selected, or your scope needs refinement, you’re encouraged to revisit the opportunity when the timing is right.
In many cases, ThreeSixty is a great step to help shape project clarity and strengthen your Delta readiness.
